When you see one of our big tankers arrive to deliver fresh drinking water, you probably aren’t aware of the preparations that are made to ensure it is truly safe to drink.
Whether you are taking delivery of “potable” water in a bowser, static tank or even a tanker trailer, all these vessels will be subjected to rigorous preparation methods before being filled with clean wholesome water.
We work to a number of Standards including BS 8558 (2011) and ACOP L8.
We work to a process, where the vessel is cleaned and disinfected to the relevant standard. Prior to filling, the fittings that connect to the supply and the vessel are specially disinfected, only WRAS approved fittings are used. Water samples are taken to assess bacterial quality.
The vessel is filled with wholesome water from approved local water authority sources.
All procedures are recorded including levels of chlorination, to ensure the water being delivered to you is fit for purpose (which is after all for drinking).
When we offload the water, responsibility for its fitness for purpose passes to you the customer. If we’re offloading to one of our supplied bowsers, we would ensure that it also, had been prepared to the same high standards as the vehicle / vessel that delivered it.
WRAS fittings are used on the storage vessel which will feature a lockable lid to prevent contamination.
The Drinking Water Inspectorate sets out guidelines on the storage of drinking water and they state that the water must be tested for the presence of E coli after 48 hours of storage and then each and every 48 hours afterwards for the period the water will be consumed.
If you’re responsible for providing water for people to drink, we can help meet compliance with the various rules and regulations, ensuring people’s health and safety.
This is another service Tardis H2O on site provides utilising our resident Water Hygienist.
We have on site laboratory equipment and should you have a need for more detailed testing, this can be provided via results from UKAS approved laboratories.
In addition to preparing our vessels, we’ve a service for bowser and tank cleaning for our customer’s own equipment. This can be especially beneficial where on site welfare units are concerned, as often water inlets and waste outlets are situated in close proximity. Applying a risk assessed rigorous cleaning followed by a water test, provides the peace of mind and certification your facilities are safe and hygienic.
