We've a range of monitoring services provided by our resident Water Hygienist who visits site, tests water, provides health reports on water storage and safety advice.

Water quality testing

If you operate welfare cabins for example, quite often waste and water facilities operate in close proximity. This is where our inspection, reporting and testing comes into its own.

We operate on site, in hospitals, at events and festivals where people gather and therefore environmental hygiene is the responsibility of the organisers. We can help you meet your health and hygiene obligations.

Drinking water that is stored in uncontrolled conditions for more than 24 hours will require testing for the presence of E.coli and coliforms to assure that the water is fit for human consumption. Testing should be carried out at 24 hour intervals until the water is consumed or a refill is carried out as per BS 8551:2015. 

Common tests include but are not limited to:

  • Free chlorine
  • Total chlorine
  • Appearance
  • Exact pH level
  • Exact temperature
  • E. coli
  • Coliforms
  • Alkalinity
  • Nitrate
  • Nitrite
  • Water hardness
  • Copper
  • Hydrogen sulphide
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Sulphate
  • Ammonia
  • Chloride
  • Iron check
  • Conductivity
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Pseudomonas species

Testing for Coliforms and E.coli requires a 24 hour incubation periods at 35 degrees.

Laboratory testing is required for the below:
  • Bacteria - this can take up to 3 days for results
  • Pseudomonas species - this can take up to 3 days for results
  • Phosphate - this can take up to 3 days for results
  • Legionella - this can take up to 10 days for results

We can also carry out checks for:
  • Corrosion
  • Sludge
  • Slime
  • Scale
  • Any foreign bodies in water
  • Area of water storage
